Representative Students with Missions Offering

Missions Month at ECS began with a kick-off chapel on January 8, 2007.   This year's project was to raise money to sponsor 4 students for a  year.  The students attend Timotheus Christian School in Bucharest, Romania.  The school is located in Romania's capital city and was founded in 1991 following the fall of the Communist Dictator Ceausescu (Christmas of 1989).  The school has 200 students in grades P-8.  It is the only Christian elementary school in a city of three million people.  Many of the families who have children in the school are struggling to make the monthly tuition.  This is where ECS students can help.  We have set a goal to sponsor 4 students for 1 year at a cost of $336 each or $1344 for all four.  The students can raise money to support their missions project through a variety of means.  This project is sponsored by the Association of Christian School's International.

Special speakers, picture presentations and songs throughout the month of January and early February were scheduled to give the students a better understanding of what missions is all about. 

Romania is a country somewhat smaller than the state of Oregon with a population that is nearly 7 times that of Oregon.  It is located in Eastern Europe with 130 miles of coastline along the Black Sea.  The Danube River forms its southern border with Yugoslavia and Bulgaria.  Romanians have one of the lowest standards of living in Eastern Europe.
